Originally the house was built for a family during the late 1800's by a wealthy Shanghai-nese family until liberation in 1949 when the property was handed over to the local Education Department.
For the next 40 years, the house and garden was used as a junior boarding school until it was abandoned in the mid-1990's. From then, we decided to build the best Irish bar and restaurant in China. The rest, as they say, is history.
