O’Malley’s is discreetly located in the heart of Shanghai’s Former French Concession’s tree-lined streets. This double-story bar and restaurant is the first traditional Irish pub in Asia and sells the most Guinness in China. O’Malley’s caters to all tastes and require- ments. So, be it live music, live sports, a sprawling garden, a game of darts or a traditional fireplace that you’re looking for, you’ll find it in O’Malley’s.
Originally the house was built for a family during the late 1800’s by a wealthy Shanghai- nese family until liberation in 1949 when the property was handed over to the local Education Department.
For the next 40 years, the house and garden was used as a junior boarding school until it was abandoned in the mid-1990’s, until we decided to build the best Irish bar and restaurant in China. The rest, as they say, is history.
